VISITING LONGHORN RANCHES IN COLORADO Part 1 – Searle Ranch

While Jerry and I were in Colorado visiting our Daughter, Kris, and our son-in-law, Blake a couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of meeting up with two Longhorn ranchers, one in Monument and the other in Yoder, the latter not exactly close to Denver, but a wonderful drive nonetheless. We have included some photos of some of the beautiful longhorns we got to meander around. I was grateful that both Kris and Blake were game to take time out to see these magnificent bovine. We were absolutely in awe of these two ranchers, who are very busy with not only maintaining their businesses, while also taking care of their herds and then taking time out to meet with a family of city slickers. But, they were not only hospitable and gracious, they invited us back to dine with them when we are in the area. We will definitely take them up on this amazing invitation.

Right after returning from Colorado and Texas, I saw a quote by C.S. Lewis who explained the difference between joy and happiness. About joy, he said, “It jumps under one’s ribs and tickles down one’s back and makes one forget meals and keeps one (delightedly) sleepless o’ nights. It shocks one awake when the other puts one to sleep. My private table is one second of joy is worth 12 hours of Pleasure. I think you really quite agree with me.” That spelled it out for me, as I would still be there, in joy if left up to me - walking around and petting and talking to longhorns.
