BEAUTY AT SUNSET I

I painted a lake behind the bison, thinking that it would add interest to the painting. Since the sunlight is coming from the backside of the main subject, I am painting the bison darker and a little more subdued because the sun is going down and pretty soon the bison would be just a dark outline. I’m still on the fence whether I want to paint a calf by the cow’s side. Maybe as I go along putting a little more light on the grass I’ll figure it out. As I stand back looking at the lake, I’m not sure if I want it in the painting. Hopefully, as I go along this adventure I will know what I want to do. I sure don’t want to overload the painting because the main attraction is the bison.
