Cool, Clear Water

It is obvious that this Texas Longhorn steer did not face the barren waste, as his soul cried out for water….cool, clear water, particularly standing in cool water up to his knees.

Whenever I hear the song, “Cool water,” which was written in 1940, and sung by an impressive list of singers, i.e., Hank Williams, Sons of the Pioneers, Frankie Laine, Marty Robbins, and Eddy Arnold, the lyrics are so vivid, it always made me a bit thirsty when I heard the many versions.

I loved the way this steer studied me, really not caring where I was in his world. As he drank, he picked his head up and a delicate stream of cool water ran, criss-crossing and creating ripples in the pond.
