When we got to Cibola after leaving the Longhorn auction on September 23, we found a small heard of young bulls. There were a few near the fencing and a larger group down the hill. Young bison are curious bovine so as we stood or sat by the fence, the remainder of the herd moseyed up the hill toward us.

Most were in pairs, and others peeled away into singles or loose groups. There were three in a wallow area down the hill. We did not see any active wallowing, but we were able see the three individuals talking over the latest events as they lay in the shallow wallow. We did enjoy watching their interactions with each other and how they were observing us as they moseyed past.
