Personal Story about Creampuff

A week ago, Kathy received an email from a contact at New Mexico Stockman, a trade magazine in Albuquerque, NM. He asked for an image of a 2008 painting by Kathy of Creampuff to be featured on the cover of the September 2022 issue of the “Stockman”.

A little history from Kathy: In 2008 when I painted him, this hunk of a Charolais bull was a member of the New Mexico State University NCAA Rodeo Program, directed by Jim Brown. I understand this bull was anything but a creampuff when he had a bull rider on his back. This bull appeared to be arrogant, but very impressive.

The amazing thing about him was that if I went from one side of his paddock to the other, he always knew where I was. I watched him for a long time, as he would get up from lying down, scratch himself on a post, paw around to look for a better place to raise a little dust, and then settle down again and look to see where I was standing. Then, if I stood in one spot, he would resume dozing.
