This painting has not been without its struggle. Where do I begin as my eyes go around the canvas like marbles wondering where they are going to land, i.e., what do I tackle next. I have painted this longhorn’s head 5 times and I think I finally mastered it. I’ll never be really sure of that until I tie the rest of the body into the flow. Next, I am painting the longhorn just to the viewer’s left, and the calf on the ground to the viewer’s right. After that, I’ll tackle the very light wheat-like grass and then the sky.

Right now, the sky is way too dark for the painting. I am going to add a lot of white to my ultramarine blue and Cerulean Blue with a tad of Naples yellow. And, lastly, I need to concentrate on the water tank and the slight reflection in the water. Well, for now, I have my work cut out for me as I pull myself up by my bootstraps so to speak.
