This is what one would call a “loud” longhorn. The splash of red and white is saying that the steer is one to be looked at, not to mention his impressive horns. I thought that he was just beautiful. I love the sweep of his horns. They go with his beautiful coat.

As I was painting this steer, I didn’t like the sky or the grass. Neither of them went with him at all. So, I wound up painting the sky 3 times, and the grass at least that number, until I felt that the painting was working. The backdrop I painted in was roughing up the hills in the background. When I did that, then I had to put more white in the sky, and suggest that there might be some clouds. I really enjoyed painting this majestic longhorn.
