I have a few pet paintings I need to get started on this week. I usually do commissioned pet portraits towards the end of the year. I am always excited to see how they are going to turn out. I plan on starting with a head portrait of this beautiful beagle, Izzy, and a now deceased mix pup, Jack. This will be followed by this gorgeous black and tan Chihuahua. The client had certain ideas about what she wanted to display in Lucy, which I am very happy about. After about 100 photos, my client said she wanted Lucy looking to the side because that is how she always sees her. Then, lastly, there is a lovely mix, Stella, sitting on the stairs. I don’t plan on painting the stairs with this dog because the stairs overpower the dog. I most likely will paint her on a platform of sorts. I have my work cut out for me for the next few weeks, so now I’ll get started.
